Rocío Pérez, soprano

The young soprano Rocío Pérez born in Madrid where she start from an early age her training in music, clarinet and drama performing at the 14 age at the Teatro Real in Madrid as "Sophie" in The Little Sweep by Britten. From this moment Rocío acquires musical and drama training, performing different plays in places like Festival de Teatro Clasico de Almagro and international theaters in Washington DC, Lisbon and Oporto.

She begins her vocal training with Elena Valdelomar and finishes her higher education at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid with Victoria Manso and Francisco Pérez. Eventually she attended vocal master classes with Nathalie Dessay, Ana Luisa Chova, Dolora Zajick, June Anderson, Carlos Chausson and others.

Continuing her professional way, she takes part in operas like Cinderella by P.M. Davies, Dido and Aeneas by Purcell and in Falstaff  by Verdi in different Spanish theatres. Likewise she is a soloist in the Cantania´s Project at L´Auditorio de Barcelona during five seasons. Also she collaborates as a soloist in the world premiere of Bildlos / Weglos by Wolfgang Rihm at MITO´s Festival in Italy.

During the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons, she was a full member of the Operastudio in Strasbourg (Opéra national du Rhin) where she participated in productions such as  Il matrimonio segreto (Carolina) by Cimarosa, La belle ou bois dormant (La fée bleue) by Respighi, Ariane et Barbe-Bleue (Ygraine) by Dukas, Cendrillon (Anastasie) by Wolf-Ferrari, Pénélope (Phylo) by Fauré and La Cambiale di Matrimonio (Fanny) by Rossini.  She also participated in the guest performances of the Strasbourg Operastudio at the Atelier-Théâtre Louis Jouvet (Paris). As a member of the Strasbourg operastudio, Rocío Pérez was given the opportunity to sing repeatedly under the baton of conductors such as : Patrick Davin, Vincent Monteil, Antonino Fogliani, Marcus Bosch and Daniele Callegari. Moreover she was directed by Olivier Py and Robert Carsen (the latter belonging actually to world's most renowned and acclaimed stage directors) and by risiing talents such as Christophe Gayral, Marie-Eve Signeyrole and Valentina Carrasco.

Amongst her recent and next roles :

Recent parts included Tebaldo (Don Carlo) at Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg in a new production directed by Robert Carsen, Le Feu, La Princesse and Rossignol in L'enfant et les sortilèges (Ravel) as well as Cleone in Ermione (Rossini) the latter in concert under the baton of Alberto Zeddo at the Lyon Opera House and at Théâtre des Champs Elysées Paris. Upcoming she will return to Lyon to sing Amore and Damigella in L'Incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi), a production that will be revived at both the Royal Opera House of Versailles as the opera house of Vichy. Highlights of next season (2017/2018) include Norina in Don Pasquale (Donizetti) and Berenice in L'occasione fa il ladro (Rossini).

Other news and highlights :

July 2016, Rocío Pérez was awarded with both the 3rd Prize and Young Artist Prize at the very first edition of the International Singing Competition "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg". 2015, she won several Prizes at the XXVII “Concours de chant Lyrique de Marmande”. Other awards include the 1st Prize and Most promising young singer Prize at the XII edition of the international competition “Luis Mariano”, the 2nd Prize and Most promising young singer Prize in the IX International competition of singers “Villa de Colmenar Viejo” and the 2nd Prize at the Young Musicians competition in Spain. The more she received a scholarship from the “Asociacion amigos de la opera” and “Juventudes Musicales” of Madrid.
