Before switching to opera, the Spanish soprano Rocio Perez was trained in clarinet and drama in Madrid. In 2014 she entered the opera studio Colmar/Strasbourg, where she stayed two years. Subsequently she admitted at the young singer's program of the Opera House of Lyon.
Her career takes off after gaining lavish praise for her participation at La Fenice as Berenice in L'occasione fa il ladro by Rossini ; at deutsche Oper Berlin and the Semperoper Dresden as Queen of the Night and eventually at the opera house of Helsinki as Olympia (Hoffmann's Tales).
Current & upcoming role debuts
Rocio Perez will sing her first Violetta in La Traviata (Cordoba), Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore at the Opera House of Nancy and upon invitation of Christophe Rousset and his Talens lyriques both the title role in Ifigenia by Tommaso Traetta at the famous Festival of Innsbruck 2025 as the part of Fauno in Ascanio in Alba at Theater an der Wien, La Scala in Milan and the Champs Elysées Theatre in Paris.
In concert the artist will participate in Beethoven's Missa Solemnis alongside the RTVE Orchestra of Madrid and in an early by Mozart composed oratorio Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots upon invitation of the Caravaggio ensemble and de Saint-Denis Festival (Paris).
Recent highlights
to start with the title-role of Manon Lescaut in the rarely played opera by the French composer Daniel F. E. Auber. A work programmed within the framework of the Manon-Festival at the Opera House of Torino (the artist's debut in the house). Olympia at Teatro La Fenice in Venice next to the stunning virtuoso part of Aristea in L'Olimpiade by Cimarosa alongside Les Talens lyriques under M° Christophe Rousset at Theater an der Wien and the Royal Opera House of Versailles where it was recorded and meanwhile released. Also noteworthy : her participation in the double bill Rossignol (Stravinsky) title role and Les Mamelles de Tirésias (Poulenc) as Thérèse at the Opera House of Nice. She also created the leading female role of Doña Inés, in the world premiere at Teatro de la Zarzuela of Arturo Diez Boscovich's new opera El Caballero de Olmedo. An opera composed after Felix Lope de Vega and adapted by Lluís Pasqual.
Other significant roles
Nannetta in a new productions of Falstaff at Teatro Real Madrid and the Opera house of Nice ; Dinorah (Dinorah ou le pardon de Ploërmel) by Giacomo Meyerbeer at deutsche Oper Berlin and Gilda (Rigoletto) at the Opera House of Nancy. In between she debuts in several Mozart roles : Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Blonde (The abduction of the Seraglio), next to Tonina (Prima la Musica poi le parole) and Frau Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor, Salieri/Mozart).
Whilst trained in Strasbourg and Lyon, Rocio Perez also participated in main productions. It allowed her to build up her repertoire with roles such asTebaldo (Don Carlo), Carolina (Il matrimonio segreto), Fanny (La Cambiale di Matrimonio), Le Feu, La Princesse and Rossignol (L'Enfant et les sortilèges), Cleone (Ermione, Rossini), Amore and Damigella (L'Incoronazione di Poppea), Anastasie (Cendrillon) and Norina (Don Pasquale) and to be at the same time directed by acclaimed personalities such as Olivier Py, Robert Carsen, Christophe Gayral, Marie-Ève Signeyrole and Valentina Carrasco and to be conducted by Patrick Davin, Antonino Fogliani, Marcus Bosch, Alberto Zedda, Daniele Callegari among others.
Awards
2018 : 4th Grand Prize at the renowned International Queen Elisabeth Voice Competition (Belgium) and called Laureate of this legendary Competition.
2016 : 3rd Prize and Young Artist Prize at the very first edition of the International Singing Competition "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg".
2015 : several Prizes at the XXVII “Concours de chant Lyrique de Marmande”.
