Rocio Perez, before switching to opera, was trained in clarinet and drama in Madrid. In 2014 she entered  the opera studio in Strasbourg/Colmar and was subsequently admitted in the young singers program of the opera house of Lyon.

Today she can look back on an impressive career with debuts in renowned theaters such as : Opera national du Rhin Strasbourg as Tebaldo in Don Carlo under Daniele Callegari ; the Opera House of Lyon and Théâtre des Champs Elysées as Cleone in Ermione (Rossini) under M° Alberto Zedda ; La Fenice as Berenice in L'occasione fa il Ladro (Rossini) and in the dittico Prima la Musica e poi le parole asTonina & Der Schauspieldirector as Frau Herz (2020); Teatro Real Madrid as Nannetta in Falstaff and as Queen of the Night, the latter role took her as well at Semperoper Dresden.

Also at Deutsche Oper Berlin Rocio Perez appeared at several occasions as the Queen of the night and was offered to debut in the title roles of Lucia di Lammermoor and Dinorah (Dinorah, ou Le Pardon de Ploërmel) by Giacomo Meyerbeer. A  debut sung under the baton of Enrique Mazzola in 2020 for which the artist got lavish praise.

Recent invitations

First niece in Britten's Peter Grimes at Teatro Real Madrid (new production directed by Deborah Warner), Gilda in Rigoletto at the Opera House of Nancy and Clorinda in Rossini's La Cenerentola (directed by Stefan Herheim). The more Rocio Perez will return to the Semperoper Dresde for a series of the Magic Flute (Queen of the night) a role in which she will also make her debut at the prestigious Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, with les Talens lyriques under the baton of Christoph Rousset.

Alas ! other scheduled role debuts as La Comtesse Adèle in Rossini's Le Comte Ory (Rossini) at the Opera house of Metz and Gilda at La Fenice next to her house debut at the Hamburg State opera as Queen of the Night were cancelled due to anti-covid-19 measures.

Noteworthy, her recent appearaces as Zerlina (role debut) in Don Giovanni directed by Carlos Saura at A Coruña, Paula in Los tres sombreros de copa by Ricardo Llorca at Teatro de la Zarzuela and Norina in Don Pasquale at the Opera House of Metz.

Awards

May 2018, Rocío Pérez was awarded with the 4th Grand Prize at the famous International Queen Elisabeth Voice Competition (Belgium) and called Laureate of this legendary Competition.

July 2016, she was awarded with both the 3rd Prize and Young Artist Prize at the very first edition of the International Singing Competition "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg".

2015, she won several Prizes at the XXVII “Concours de chant Lyrique de Marmande”. Other awards include the 1st Prize and Most promising young singer Prize at the XII edition of the international competition “Luis Mariano”, the 2nd Prize and Most promising young singer Prize in the IX International competition of singers “Villa de Colmenar Viejo” and the 2nd Prize at the Young Musicians competition in Spain. The more she received a scholarship from the “Asociacion amigos de la opera” and “Juventudes Musicales” of Madrid.
