Before switching to opera, the Spanish soprano Rocio Perez was trained in clarinet and drama in Madrid. In 2014 she entered the opera studio in Strasbourg/Colmar and was subsequently admitted in the young singers program of the opera house of Lyon.Her career takes off after gaining lavish praise for her participation at La Fenice as Berenice in L'occasione fa il ladro by Rossini ; at Deutsche Oper Berlin as Queen of the Night and as Lucia di Lammermoor (debut title-role) and eventually at the opera house of Helsinki as Olympia (Hoffmann's Tales).Current & upcoming engagementsDuring the current season, the artist will create at Teatro de la Zarzuela Madrid Doña Inés, the main female role in the world premiere of Arturo Diez Boscovich's new opera El Caballero de Olmedo after Felix Lope de Vega and adapted by Lluís Pasqual. Subsequently she will sing Olympia at La Fenice, embark on a tour and CD-recording alongside Les Talens lyriques under Christophe Rousset in L'Olimpiade by Pergolesi (role of Aristea), make her debut as Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos) and participate in the double bill : Rossignol, Stravinsky (title-role) and Les Mamelles de Tirésias, Poulenc (Thérèse) also a role debut. Further new roles are Manon in the rarely programmed Manon Lescaut by the composer Daniel F. E. Auber, within the framework of the Manon-Festival at the Opera house of Torino (the artist's debut in the house) and Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore at the opera house of Nancy.Recent performances Als Lisa in Bellini's La Sonnambula (role debut) at Teatro Real ; Nannetta in a new Falstaff production at Opéra Nice Côte d'Azur ; Blonde in Mozarts Entführung aus dem Serail, in a semi-stage version with the Orquesta de Granada and Clorinda (La Cenerentola) again at Teatro Real. Further more she revived the Queen of the night at the Semperoper Dresden and amongst others at the prestigious Menuhin Festival of Gstaad, alongside Les Talens lyriques under M° Christophe Rousset.Role debuts to be reckoned with ! To start with the title role in Dinorah, ou le Pardon de Ploërmel by Giacomo Meyerbeer, sung under the baton of M° Enrique Mazzola at her comeback to the deutsche Oper Berlin and her first Gilda (Rigoletto) at the Opéra national de Lorraine Nancy, directed by Richard Brunel and conducted by M° Alexander Joel. Another challenging role on her repertoire is La Comtesse Adèle (Comte Ory), scheduled in Metz but abruptly cancelled the morning after the dress rehearsal, because of the pandemic.Other performed roles Rocio Perez sang her first Zerlina (Don Giovanni) directed by the renowned Spanish film director Carlos Saura (at the Opera house in A Coruña). The more in the classical repertoire, she participated at La Fenice (Malibran hall) in the double bill Mozart-Salieri "Prima la Musica poi le parole - Der Schauspieldirektor" in which she interpreted Tonina and Frau Herz. The artist has successfully explored all styles within the opera repertoire since her first steps on the professional stage. Next to the above mentioned roles she has sung on stage : Tebaldo (Don Carlo), Carolina (Il matrimonio segreto), Fanny (La Cambiale di Matrimonio), Le Feu, La Princesse and Rossignol (L'Enfant et les sortilèges), Cleone (Ermione, Rossini), Amore and Damigella (L'Incoronazione di Poppea), Anastasie (Cendrillon) and Norina (Don Pasquale).Awards 2018 : 4th Grand Prize at the famous International Queen Elisabeth Voice Competition (Belgium) and called Laureate of this legendary Competition.2016 : 3rd Prize and Young Artist Prize at the very first edition of the International Singing Competition "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg".2015 : several Prizes at the XXVII “Concours de chant Lyrique de Marmande”.Other awards include the 1st Prize and Most promising young singer Prize at the XII edition of the international competition “Luis Mariano”, the 2nd Prize and Most promising young singer Prize in the IX International competition of singers “Villa de Colmenar Viejo” and the 2nd Prize at the Young Musicians competition in Spain.
