The Belgian soprano Emma Posman obtained with "greatest distinction", herMaster's degree of Voice at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, where she studied with the Belgian soprano Hendrickje Van Kerckhove. At the same time she became a member of the MM-ACADEMY of the Royal Opera House La Monnaie, Brussels, which she joined in 2017. Emma Posman participated in master classes with Malcolm Martineau, Bernarda Fink, Christianne Stotijn, David Selig, Giuliano Carella), Edda Moser, Claudia Visca, Jean-Claude Van den Eynden, Valerie Girard, Dietrich Henschel, Zeger Vandersteene and Iva Barthelemy.

Her particular and hybrid voice makes her feeling equally at home in more than one vocal “Fach”, switching easily from Mozart to belcanto roles but also to the lighter soprano parts from the German romantic repertoire. In no time she made herself a name, as Winner or Laureate of Vocal Competitions in Italy, San Marino, Belgium …

News

The artist's participation as La Hija (The daughter) in the long-wwaited chamber opera CAMBIO MADRE POR MOTO by the Belgian composer Frank NUYTS. A work commissioned by the Teatro Real Madrid under the artistic director GérardMortier, but only now premiered nearly ten years later. The opening night turned into an event. A successful start to the musical season 2023/2024, made possible by the Flanders Festival and Muziektheater Transparant. Alongside the ASKO-Schönberg Ensemble led by Benjamin Haemouts. Direction : Aida Gabriëls.

Later on this season, Emma Posman will make her debut both at the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in works by W.A. Mozart as at the Opera house of Turin in Suuor Angelica. .

Recent engagements

During recent seasons Emma Posman appeared at several occasions at the Royal Opera house la Monnaie. As Masha and Prelipa in a new production of Tchaikovsky's Queen of spades, as Talus in the world premiere of Solar by Howard Moody and amongst others as Nuova novizia in Suor Angelica a new production of Puccini's Trittico. At the Summer Operafestival of Alden-Biesen (B) she sang Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi.

 

Tempted by Mozart

At the Flanders Opera house, Concertgebouw Brugge and Festspielhaus Sankt-Pölten the artist revived the legendary production by Rosas, Un moto di Gioia. A choreography by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, inspired by several concert arias by Mozart. She embarked on another Mozart project. Now upon invitation of Le Concert Spirituel and its conductor Hervé Niquet. United for the rarely programmed French version of Die Zauberflöte, she sang under his baton La Reine de la Nuit at the magnificent Royal Opera house of the Versailles Castle. The Queen of the night has been of great significance in the artist's career, allowing her to make her debut at the Salzburger Festspiele, Komische Oper Berlin, Gärtnerplatztheater Munich, Staatstheater Hannover and the Aalto Theater Essen.

Committed to contemporary music

Emma Posman has also a soft spot for comtemporary music. During the season 2019/2020, she participated in the world premiere of Brice Pauset's Châtiments (after Kafka). A commission of the Opera house of Dijon in which Emma Posman sang the roles of Frieda and Grete. She also participated in the world premiere of Flandria a work for music theatre by the Belgian composer Benjamien Lycke (a commission by the LOD-company, in co-production with NTGent, Victoria Deluxe, KunBrussels). Last but not least, she premiered the Cantata Songs of Innocence for choir, harp and solo soprano by the Belgian composer Lucien Posman.

Front page news

Summer 2018, Emma Posman just 23, was Front Page News when, as a member of the Young Singers Project 2018 singing in the shortened youth version of the Magic flute, she is all of a sudden asked to replace on the spot the Queen of the Night on stage ! - in the Festival's main production of Die Zauberflöte

  • Voix Nouvelles Competition (2017-2018). Winner of the regional rounds and selected for the Super finals in Paris.

  • Selected for the last round of the Belvedere Competition in Moscou (2017).

  • First Prize, Public's Prize and Special Prize awarded by Eté Mosan-Festival, at International Singing Competition ‘Bell Arte’ (Belgium 2017).

  • 3rd Prize, at the International Music Competition "Triomphe de l’art" (Belgium, 2016).

  • Finalist of the Concorso Internationale di Canto Maria Caniglia (Italy 2016).

  • Winner of the Soloist Competition (with Orchestra), of the Royal Music Conservatoire of Ghent (both in 2016 as in 2017).

  • Emma Posman, is also one of three Winners of the "Honda Competition for Classical Music" (2017-18, Brussels)
