French tenor Christophe Mortagne belongs to the most sought-after character tenors of his generation. Mastering all main roles in this particular voice category he's repeatedly engaged by major houses around the world including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera, New York ; La Scala, Milan and not forgetting the National Opera House in Paris, his home town … He has appeared on stage alongside world's most renowned conductors including Antonio Pappano, Fabio Luisi and Gustavo Dudamel and worked with leading directors such as Laurent Pelly, Claus Guth and Netia Jones.

Also in recent seasons Christophe Mortagne has been acclaimed for his outstanding interpretation of character roles including Dr Caïus (Falstaff) at Staatsoper Stuttgart, Schmidt (Werther) at Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Spalanzani (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at the Paris National Opera House and Le Roi Bobèche in Offenbach’s Barbe-Bleue at the Opera House of Lyon … Also during the current season 2024/25 Christophe embarked for London again. This time to appear at Covent Garden as Monsieur Triquet (Eugene Onegin) and in the Four Servants (Les Contes d’Hoffmann).

Christophe Mortagne studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris and is a former member of La Comédie française.
