The French tenor Thomas Morris was born in Paris. He studied voice with Georgette Rispal of the Paris Opera, while studying humanities and Russian at the university of Paris-Sorbonne. He received the First prize at the Superior Singing Competition of Paris Conservatories. Subsequently he became laureat of some international competitions, including those of Marseille, Treviso, Marmande and Verviers and was awarded with the highly distinguised Special Prize for French Music Interpretation at the Henri Sauguet/Yves Saint-Laurent International competition.

Thomas Morris has appeared on Europe's most important scenes including the Opera Houses of Paris, Strasbourg, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Toulouse, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Toulon, Avignon, Rennes, Nantes, Lille, Rouen, Caen, Ancona, Bologne, Cagliari, Cosenza, Genova, Macerata, Martina Franca, Naples, Padua, Rome, Treviso, Torino, Venezia Baden-Baden, Dresden, Cologne, Bregenz, Vienna, Genève, Lausanne, Prague, Bratislava,Vilnius and Seoul. Particularly appreciated for the character tenor roles, he is also an accomplished artist for recitals and oratorio.

RECENTS & UPCOMING ENGAGEMENTS

The artist sang recently Dr Caius in the new Falstaff production at the opera house of Nice. Other appearances on the opera stage in 2023 and 2024 included Remendado in a new production of Carmen at the Opera house of Rouen ; the roles of 1er Notaire, Tarapote & Vieux prisonnier) in the revival of La Périchole in Tours (FR) of the production premiered at Paris Opéra Comique, in which he was already cast. The following months Thomas Morris will amongst others take part in the double bill Rossignol (as 3rd émissaire & Le Fils) & Les mamelles de Tirésias (as Une grosse dame) at the Opera house of Nice and sing Guillot de Morfontaine in Massenet's Manon, in one of the productions of the "Manon-Festival" proposed by the Opera house of Torino (Sept./Oct. 2024).

During the bicentennial anniversary of Jacques Offenbach's birth, Thomas sang with great success the role of Marinoni in the new Fantasio production at OPERAZUID Maastricht (including 14 staged performances throughout the Netherlands) and a semi-staged performance at Philharmonie Köln. Very much appreciated for his exceptional actor skills, the French opera and theater director Macha Makeïeff engaged Thomas for her productions of "Trissotin, ou les femmes savantes" and "La Fuite" after Boulgakov. Noteworthy as well are his appearances as Narcisse in Geneviève de Brabant by Jacques Offenbach at the Opera House of Montpellier (directed by Carlos Wagner) ; his Pirelli and Fogg in Sweeney Todd at the Opera House of Toulon, his Pluton and Aristée in Orphée aux Enfers at the Walloon ROH Liège and his Monsieur Triquet in Eugen Onegin at the Opera house of Nice. Appearances during season 2020/2021 included his comeback in the role of Ajax 1er in Offenbach's La Belle Hélène at the Paris Opéra Comique, his participation in two productions at the opera house of Nice : in Werther(Schmidt) and in Circo, a world première by the duo Magali Thomas and Sergio Monterisi, in which Thomas Morris will sing the main part. Equally noteworthy : his debut as Aldobrandin in Le Magnifique, an opera by André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry at the opera house of Reims.
