The French bass-baritone Arnaud RICHARD was awarded the highest distinction on graduating from the CNR of Caen.International breakthrough came 2010 singing Aeneas (Purcell) with the Ensemble MusicaEterna under Teodor Currentzis, with whom he also recorded Mozart's Requiem (cd-label alpha productions). He made his debut as Nicolas in L’Ecume des jours by Edison Denisov (after the famous novel of Boris Vian) at the Opera House of Stuttgart, under Sylvain Cambreling (2012).

Noteworthy are his participation in productions of Les Arts Florissants led by William Christie such as : Atys (Lully) performed from Aix-en-Provence to New-York (2011) ; David et Jonathas (M.A. Charpentier) first as Guerrier (at Aix-en-Provence-Festival) then as Saül at both the Opéra Comique (Paris) and Théâtre de Caen (2013) and La Naissance d'Osiris and Daphnis & Eglé in Caen, Dijon, London, Paris and Moscow (2014).

The artist recently appeared at the side of Raphaël Pichon and the Pygmalion orchestra in a stage production of Hippolyte et Aricie (Neptune and Pluton) at Opéra comique Paris and with the famous Orchestre de Paris for two performances of Penthesilea (Messager) by Pascal Dusapin at the Philharmonie de Paris (November 2020). Amongst his engagements that were cancelled due to the anti-covid-19 measures : a new production of Phaéton (Protée and Jupiter) by J.B. Lully at the Opera house of Nice. During the current season Arnaud Richard will return to the Strasbourg Opera house, this time to sing Melisso in Alcina (May 2021).

He can make the difference, whether he sings Antonio in Nozze di Figaro as he did at the Opera house of Nancy 2020 or as Saturno in Giovanni Legrenzi’s La Divisione del mondo – a co-production of Opera houses of Strasbourg and Nancy with revival at the Philharmonie of Cologne in which also the baroque orchestra Les Talens lyriques and its conductor Christophe Rousset were fully involved. With the latter, Arnaud Richard sang the more in Handel's Agrippina (Claudio) at the Handel-Festival in Halle and at Klangvokal Dortmund, 2019. Upon invitation of conductor François-Xavier Roth, the artist participated in Hector Berlioz' L'enfance du Christ.

OTHER CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Concert and opera performances have led to fructuous cooperation with conductors such as : Emilio Pomarico, David Stern, Rani Calderon, Daniele Callegari, Markus Stenz, Patrick Davin, Louis Langrée, Hervé Niquet, François-Xavier Roth and Alain Altinoglu. He was directed by Olivier Py, Keith Warner, Benjamin Lazar, James Gray, Andreas Homoki, Calixto Bieito, Sandrine Anglade, Jossi Wieler, Eric Ruf and Jetske Mijnssen ... in roles such as the bass parts in The Fairy Queen and Melisso in Alcina at the Opera house of Stuttgart ; Pietro (Simon Boccanegra), Maurevert (Les Huguenots), Ctésippe (Pénélope), Allan (Le Roi Arthus) Bartolo in Nozze di Figaro  at ONR Strasbourg ; Médecin and Berger in Pelléas et Mélisande at Théatre des Champs Elysées Paris (TCE) and appeared in several roles in Les dialogues des Carmélites at TCE, ROH La Monnaie and the Opera house of Bologna.

He was invited by Pygmalion (Raphaël Pichon), le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre), Ausonia (directed by Mira Glodeanu and Frédérick Haas), les Paladins (Jérôme Correas), la Simphonie du Marais (Hugo Reyne), il Seminario Musicale (Gérard Lesne), la Fenice (Jean Tubery ) a.o.

The artist appeared at Salle Gaveau in Das Paradies und die Peri (Schumann) under Xavier Ricour ; at Versailles’ Royal Chapel in La Grande Messe des Morts (F.J. Gossec) with Les Siècles,under François-Xavier Roth ; in Vredenburg/Leidsche Rijn Utrecht in L'Enfance du Christ and Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher (Honegger) with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Hilversum ; at Flagey Brussels in the Matthew Passion (bass arias) with Brussels Philharmonic under Michel Tabachnik and at Festival Radio France Montpellier in Les cris de Paris under Hervé Niquet.
