Lore BINON, soprano

Lore Binon started her musical education at the age of five as a violin player. She was laureate of several violin competitions and obtained her master in violin at the "Royal Conservatory of Brussels", where she studied with Yuzuku Horigome. While studying the violin she discovered a new passion: singing. She started her vocal training at the "Royal Conservatory of Brussels" with Beatrijs Devos obtaining her Bachelor degree maxima cum laude. In 2007 Lore was granted the "Cardon"-award for exceptional results", awarded by the Royal Conservatory. of Brussels. Subsequently Lore studied in Barcelona at the "Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalunya," with Margarida Codina de Natividade. Eventually she obtained her master “magna cum laude” at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Valérie Guillorit (2011).

In the course of her young career Lore Binon has distinguished herself with outstanding interpretations of Pierrot Lunaire by Arnold Schönberg ; Sirènes by Luca Francesconi with Brussels Philharmonic led by Michel Tabachnik (Festival Musica, Strasbourg) and Drumming (Steve Reich) together with Ictus and Rosas Danse Company. As Barbarina (Nozze di Figaro), she participated in her very first international opera production, with the Freiburger Barockorchester led by René Jacobs.

Recent and upcoming engagements

Highlights included : "Ghost Road 2, Children of Nowhere" a successful music theatre production by LOD, that has gained worldwide recognition ; "BerBerio 6+" produced by "Zonzo company" in cooperation with Revue Blanche ; "Minnesang/Minnemeister" a noteworthy recital project together with Ensemble Zefiro Torna.

Not less noteworthy was her role debut as Pamina, at the Flanders Opera, in which she revealed herself to be a great Mozart singer. Other projects included invitations to sing the solo soprano part both in Mendelssohn's Sommernachtstraum together with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège under Christian Arming as in Mahler's 4th Symphony with the Symphonic Orchestra of Mulhouse under Lothar Koenigs.

Upcoming, December 2017, Lore Binon will make her debut with the renowned Belgian baroque Orchestra B'Rock (here assisted by the Choir Vocalconsort Berlin). On the programme : the Magnificats by Bach and Kuhnau, conducted by Benjamin Bayl. On the long terme, she will amongst others participate in the world première of an opera (commissioned by the Flanders Opera) and appear as a solist with various ensembles and orchestras as with the Belgian Radio Choir.

CD: Ein deutsches Requiem, Johannes BRAHMS, solo soprano (label Evil Penguin) with Brussels Philharmonic and Flanders Radio Choir (VRK), under the baton of Hervé Niquet.

CD: Shelter, proposing works by Claude Debussy, Ivor Gurney, Enrique Granados, Hans Eisler, Manuel de Falla and Maurice Ravel with Revue Blanche (on the label Warner > Klara-cd 83).

Lore Binon performed in several music theatre productions e.g. an adaptation of Händels Saul with Transparant and Almschi, about the turbulent life of Alma Mahler. She interpreted the principal role of Iphigénie in a pasticcio called Ifigenia et Ipermestra under the baton of Paul Dombrecht. As a freelance musician she repeatedly appears in concerts and recordings with ensembles such as the Il fondamento, Collegium Vocale Gent, Ictus, Spectra a.o. under the baton of Bo Holten, Hervé Niquet, Philippe Herreweghe, Paul Dombrecht, Joel Levi, Michel Tabachnik ... She participated in Die sieben letzte Worten unseres Erlösers, in collaboration with the international Haydn biënnale Fauré “requiem” and in the Liebeslieder und Neue Liebeslieder by Johannes Brahms.

Her affinity for chamber music and particularly for the "Lied" - repertoire makes her a very accomplished singer. She participated in master classes with Rudolf Janssen, Udo Reinemann, Margreet Honig, Nicolau da Figueiredo and performed at the Muziekgebouw aan 't Ij (Amsterdam) in the supporting program of the series “Grote zangers” and in October 2011 she gave a Schubert recital at the prestigious Oxford LiederFestival. May 2013 she was invited at Chipping Campden and Wesley Chapel Harrogate.

Gifted with an enterpreneurial spirit, Lore Binon founded the ensemble "Revue blanche", a quartet consisting of the rather unusual, but interesting combination of harp, flute, viola and voice making their own arrangements of orchestral sings with whom she performs regularly. The Ensemble performs repeatedly in Belgium's main Festivals and concert venues as BOZAR Brussels, de Bijloke, deSingel, Concertgebouw Brugge ...
